Effective Cross Curriculum Sharing

"The students see the need of exposing themselves to the wider context of the world. ...They think the reading passages are very contextualized and very global. ...They can control their own pace of learning......they listen, try, re-listen and try ...they can get a sense of achievement."
- Ms. Chan

"It really exposes the students to something that they have never come into contact with. ...For instance, for Arts students, they may never know names like Albert Einstein. But from doing the exercises, they got some ideas of who this famous scientist is and what he has achieved."
- Ms. Cheng

The Buddhist Tai Hung College has effectively implemented "Cross Curriculum Sharing". With this program, teachers capitalize on English Builder by integrating its lesson plans into the curriculum of various subjects. Through exposing students to diverse subject matter, and through requiring them to write reflection reports, this move has enhanced students' learning of English.

Cross Curriculum Sharing

Lesson plans of English Builder are shared and integrated into multiple subjects, including both language and non-language ones. Responsible teachers who download the lesson plans weekly will select and make recommendations on relevant subjects, such as Moral Education, Liberal Studies, Integrated Science, and Information Technology. A content page (see online example) will then be composed and uploaded onto the school server for teachers of other subjects to check and integrate into the lessons.

Reflection Reports for Learning Reinforcement

Students are required to complete two reflection reports per month. This assignment is designed to reinforce the learning of the students after the online lessons. Each student should choose any lessons they are most interested in, and then complete the report which consists of several parts like Vocabulary, Writing, etc. (see online example) Guiding questions are also given in the reflection report for junior form students.
